Interview with Room Escape DC (Fairfax, VA) – September 13, 2018

ESCAPE ROOM INTERVIEW:

Room Escape DC is one of our favorite locations in the DC area, and was where we did our first escape room as just the two Escape Room Guys (check out our review on Save the White House). When they decided to update and revamp the room, of course we had to stick to tradition and go back and see if we could complete the room again with just our two-person team.

We were fortunate to be able to get some time with Andrew, one of their Sr. Puzzle Designers, to get some more in-depth information about this location, their rooms, and their design philosophy as to how they approach creating new experiences.

They also provided us with a discount for our readers. Use ERG15 to take 15% off your total on games booked for Mondays through Thursdays.

Check out the video below, and let us know what you think. You can also use the social media buttons on the top of this post to share with friends and colleagues.

Have you done any of the rooms at this location? What was your experience like? You can add your comments to this post.

Stay tuned for our review of Save the White House II. Check out and follow our social media channels below to be notified when new postings and interviews are published.

Description (from the company website):You and your teammates are the prized collection of Wilfred Larium, senior citizen and rare fish collector. You live happily in his aquarium, for fish, but stormy waters are on their way: Larium’s rambunctious granddaughter, Lily, is on her way to his house for a visit. The last time she visited, Wilfred gave her a choice of any of his fish to take home with her. You never saw the last pick once he was selected, but the look of horror on his face when placed in the energetic hands of Lily will haunt you forever.

The only way to escape is to find a way to get Wilfred to take you out of the tank so you can make make your way into the sewer line before Lily arrives. Do you have what it takes to escape the chaotic kid before you’re sleeping with the fishes?

Description of the room: The bus is an airport-shuttle style bus with a cage inside. Can’t really say more.

Understanding of the Mission: After the guard passed out from food poisoning, you and your fellow convicts have to do everything in your power to get yourselves out of the handcuffs and off the bus so you can be free again. Otherwise, back to jail, and this ain’t the Hilton… hell, it’s not even a Motel 6.

Mike (left) and Jason (right) had their mug shots taken right before they completed the Jail Bus.

Did We Escape: Yes (both Jason’s and Mike’s team escaped)

Time Remaining:
14:00 – Jason

Description (from the company website): A radical group has hidden a bomb in the Oval Office in an attempt to assassinate the President. You and the rest of your Secret Service team have intel that the bomb is set to go off in one hour. If it detonates, it will devastate the capital and fling the Free World into chaos. There is only one problem: lockdown has been initiated before you could get the President to safety.

Now, you are all trapped in the Oval Office together. Your only hope is to find the bomb and disarm it. To unravel this enthralling puzzle, you will have to rely on clever strategy and collaboration. Look carefully. Look closely. Everything in the Oval Office is a clue.

The President’s life, and the fate of the United States, rests in your hands. Do you have what it takes?

This is the Facebook Live video just after we completed the room:

Did We Escape: Yes and damn proud of it
