We Drink and We Know Things… – Room: Save King’s Landing – August 5, 2018

ESCAPE ROOM REVIEW – THE QUICK AND DIRTY

Play if… chills go up your spine every time you hear “The Rains of Castamere”

Avoid if… you are clumsy (wildfire is a VERY fickle potion).

THE BASICS

Dubrovnik Escape Room:

Address: Josipa Kosora 22, 20000, Dubrovnik, Croatia (click address for Google Map)

Contact and Website: 011 (if dialing from the U.S.), then 385 97 644 2145
www.dubrovnikescaperoom.com

Room – Save King’s Landing:

Description (from the company website): The enemy fleet is attacking the city! The only way to save it is to use the wildfire, a potion so powerful it burn and melts everything once it is set on fire. But damned keister Hallyne, the pyromancer, disappeared, so the King’s Hand (Tyrion Lannister) sent you – his most loyal guards – to find the potion in the alchemy lab and save the kingdom!

Can you make it in time?

Difficulty4/5

Time Limit: 60 minutes

Languages: English and Croatian

Identifier: R1

Party Size: 2-5 players

Cost: Cash only in Croatian kuna is accepted – USE ERG20 to save 20% off your ticket prices.
230 kuna per person for 2 people, about $36.10 each
215 kuna per person for 3 people, about $33.75 each
200 kuna per person for 4 people, about $31.40 each
185 kuna per person for 5 people, about $29.04 each

Note on booking: for most European escape rooms, you book the room by the number of people in your party as a private room. Your overall price per person is cheaper the more people you book for (so, if you book the room for 2 people, it will be more expensive per person than booking the room for 5 or 6). In any event, your room will be just your party and strangers will not be placed in with you.

Staging Area: a nice-sized lobby with some comfy couches. Restrooms are located to the left of the lobby.

Metro Access/Parking: parking is available out front. The location is about a 25-minute walk from the Old Town, or a 5-minute Uber (hint: take Uber).

OUR EXPERIENCE

This is the video we took before we entered the room:

This is the video we took just after we completed the room:

Interview with Enter the Enigma (Colorado Springs, CO) – August 17, 2018

ESCAPE ROOM INTERVIEW:

No trip out of state is complete without another escape room. I can remember back to the first time I (Jason) was in Colorado (once my escape room obsession began) and there were maybe 3-5 rooms in the area. Now, at least 12. It’s amazing!

The great thing is that they (almost) all have different themes or different takes on a theme. I do love a good detective-style room which is what led me to choose The Attic for Steph and I to do while vacationing in Colorado Springs. (This was also the first room she and I ever did on our own, so that was a big step for us. HAHAHA)

Big thanks to Don for getting us in the room at the last minute (we set it up a day or two prior) and for his willingness to be on camera. (And an even bigger apology for saying “Escape The Enigma” when it’s actually “ENTER The Enigma”.)

Additionally, they have a grand opening promo code of 20% (until 10/1/18) using the code ETNGS18. Furthermore, all military and first-responders always have 20% off.

Have you done any of the rooms at this location? What was your experience like? You can add your comments to this post.

Stay tuned for Jason’s review of The Attic. Check out and follow our social media channels below to be notified when new postings and interviews are published.

The last time she visited, Wilfred gave her a choice of any of his fish to take home with her. You never saw the last pick once he was selected, but the look of horror on his face when placed in the energetic hands of Lily will haunt you forever.

The only way to escape is to find a way to get Wilfred to take you out of the tank so you can make make your way into the sewer line before Lily arrives. Do you have what it takes to escape the chaotic kid before you’re sleeping with the fishes?

Interview with Locked In Escapes (Colorado Springs, CO) – June 16, 2018

ESCAPE ROOM INTERVIEW:

Part of my trip back to Colorado Springs was to get back out to Locked In Escapes, where I had previously escaped from the Shattered Kingdom. Having emailed back and forth with Ken, and expressing interest in wanting to work together, I found it necessary to come try out another room.

We went through Darkness Falls this time (review is not ready yet), which is actually the one I wanted to do when I was there last year. However, I didn’t think it was appropriate for Marco and Holly’s first escape room.

That said, we escaped (it was close), and we’re coming back for another room in August, but while I was there, Ken and Dawn sat down with me for a few minutes to answer some questions on film (aka, an interview). They were also nice enough to give us a whopping 30% discount code, ERGuys30, so go on, book a room there. You know you want to!

Stay tuned for my review of Darkness Falls. Check out and follow our social media channels below to be notified when new postings and interviews are published.

Interview with Pikes Peak Escape Rooms (Colorado Springs, CO) – June 15, 2018

ESCAPE ROOM INTERVIEW:

As we’ve stated before, any time either of us travel, we try and throw an Escape Room on the itinerary. This work/pleasure trip to Colorado Springs I made was no different.

I reached out to Pikes Peak Escape Room to let them know I’d be in the area and would like to try and escape one of their rooms. They were happy to oblige. We were originally scheduled for Death Row, but as no one booked Lost Kingdom at the same time, we were showed into that room instead (to be followed by Death Row unbeknownst to me; a pleasant surprise).

We met with Sarah and Les prior to going into the Lost Kingdom, and Les was happy to sit down with me for a brief interview. We continued to talk shop for a while after he gave me a sneak peak at one of their upcoming rooms and now I can’t wait to get back out to CO Springs in August.

Additionally, they have a Summer Kickoff special going on through September which will get you into an escape room for only $19.75 (down from $30 per person), no code necessary. I suggest you take advantage while you can.

Stay tuned for my reviews of Lost Kingdom and Death Row. Check out and follow our social media channels below to be notified when new postings and interviews are published.

Have you done any of the rooms at this location? What was your experience like? You can add your comments to this post.

Metro Access/Parking: Twinbrook Metro Station in Rockville is about a 15 minute (.8 mile) walk away. Otherwise, you can drive. There is ample parking in the lot, but follow your GPS closely as the address is kinda tricky.

OUR EXPERIENCE

This is the video we took before we entered the room:

This is the video we took just after we completed the room:

Note: The ERG were given the opportunity to try out this room for free, with the understanding that we would continue to provide an honest review and follow the same process we’ve used on all of our other ratings.

Logistics:

Description of the room: You start off in a small office where you are given some details about the room, and watch a short video while the Professor tries to sedate the zombie. Then your host takes you through the building to a hidden elevator where the Professor meets you and takes you down an elevator to the basement where the lab is located. The doors open and your adventure begins.

Understanding of the Mission: You have been invited to the Professor’s lab to learn more about zombies. Unfortunately, as soon as you enter the lab, something goes wrong and a self-destruct sequence is triggered. You now have 60 minutes to escape the lab by opening the locked door, saving yourselves, the brilliant (but sometimes nutty) Professor, AND the zombie (it’s a prime specimen that they don’t want destroyed). However, as you search for the way out, the zombie’s sedative wears off and it starts to come after you… with its chain getting longer every 5 minutes.

Did We Escape: Yes, but barely!

Time Remaining: 57 seconds

Our Suggested Party Size: The room holds up to 12. We had 8 and that was probably enough (if all are experienced). If you’re new to escape rooms, the maximum should work (the room is DEFINITELY big enough – at the beginning at least – for that many people).
